Waiting....

I've been waiting for so long now too long I would say. I have been waiting for over 9 months for my niece to be born already. I would have thought she would have been born on March 7th but no luck. I'm just so excited that I want to see her already. My sister in law is 39 weeks.

My niece will be named Mia Elizabeth. The name was picked by my cousins, brothers, sister in law and me. We were all gathered up together naming names until we liked some. We all voted for the name that we liked the most and it was Mia. Afterwards we were discussing that a second name would be perfect since her name was going to be so short.

Mia Elizabeth is going to be my first niece so my whole family is just excited and anxious to meet the little one. The house is already full with baby stuff, and stuff that Mia isn't going to be using until she's like two or three. Hopefully my niece is born any day now during spring break. I'm so glad I'm going to be an aunt and it's going to be a new experience; lets see how this goes..

Assigned Entry #3 ASU shorter classes

Every college and University have what's called the 15 week semester courses. The 15 week is a result of professors instructing at a normal pace where everyone actually seems to be following along. Arizona State University is developing what's called the 7 1/2 week semester course, where classes are being taught in a faster pace so that students can graduate faster and have a tuition that students won't be bother with as much. ASU plans to help students want to continue their education and be glad they finished sooner.

My opinion about this 7 1/2 week semester courses is that yes it does seem to be interesting in the way that it's going to help more students with the tuition rates. It is also going to persuade more students into attending the university because they see that there's a program that goes much faster than having to attend university for 4 years. Also students that want to drop out might even think about it twice before doing so.

My personal opinion though is that I would not like to attend a 7 1/2 week semester course because I like to learn in a more slower pace. I do like the idea of lower tuition but I won't be learning as well as having the 15 weeks. Professor would be seeming to teach much faster and I need my time to process the work. It would seem to me like taking a summer class of 5 weeks where everything is being taught and learned is a super speed.

One of the comment that I was reading and got my attention was "Sounds more like a crammed summer course to me where you just get the hours in in order to get the grade and get out as fast as you can." I agree because like I said everything is in a faster speed and students have to process everything right there. Another comment that I looked at was this one "Call it the new Wal-Mart degree.. We sell for less. I'm from the old school. College degrees should not be earned on line." Yes I agree as well, I believe students should take the time that is necessary to earn the degree and not just be shorten so that they graduate faster. They need the time to get everything in place.

Estefani's & Ariana's Adventure!

Back in the beginning of February Estefani and I were on a hunt! We were looking for Grape fruits. She was doing it for her mom and I was doing it for myself. We do not like grape fruits but since they help burn some fat off we were doing it. Since I'm in a diet I was like "okay lets go for it!"One day after ENG 102 we were walking to get the bus and we passed through a "park" that had lots and lots of grape fruit trees. Those trees seemed to be calling me name as we were passing through there.

I was wondering who they belonged too since there where buildings really close by; because I did not want to take some without permission. My temptation took over me and I was like whatever lets do this, so I told my friend Estefani to look out for me while I got under the tree and tried to pulled some out. But lucky me the grape fruits were too high that I only managed to pull out two...

Estefani then goes under the tree while it was my turn to look out so nobody could see us. But even though Estefani is tall she herself couldn't reach either. So even though we didn't manage to get many grape fruit; just two we let laughing for having to something crazy right after class. But next thing you know.... three days later my parents come home with like 50 grape fruits!

Assigned Entry #2 Slanted Reporting

While watching the news have you ever wondered if all that is true? One gets so into what reporters are informing that it makes one completely believe what they are informing us with. As you go on watching the news one channel can be reporting one side while another new channel can be reporting the other and you can't seem to understand which side has a point. Reporting one side of a story stands for slanted reporting. People have no idea about this reporting happening. Reporters have their own opinion on the situation they encounter, and sometimes they add their opinion into what they are reporting. Slanted reporting is media which consistently reports news that is not accurate or is intentionally distorted.

In this video the guy talking is mentioning how Fox News misinterpreted a Obama's story of gas prices. Fox News said that Obama was asking Eric Holder to investigate whether the oil companies have manipulated through fraud the rising of gas prices, however the real story was that gas prices are surging to four dollars a gallon, the story is Obama solution to break the back of rising costs is to have attorney general Eric Holder form a task force to examine allege fraud or manipulation of the oil markets. Basically what Fox News was doing is that they were blaming the oil companies for fraud.

Fox News is one of the news channel's that has been using slanted reporting most often. They tend to tell one side of the story instead of telling everything at once. But they do so because there is a time limit being on air.

In this other video from second 27 to minute 3:06 Fox News the Reporter cuts Obama off right when he was about to say he can DO what he exactly just did but Fox News said he's not suppose too. They just gave the side they liked to hear.
