Assigned entry #4 Capitalism

In the film Capitalism: A Love Story, Michael Moore explains America's relationship with capitalism and I truly found the relationship so impressing.  Capitalism is an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit. By the definition of capitalism and the film of Michael Moore I now understand more about it and I can say it really has me worried that the United States can become capitalist. In this film I had the chance to see how America actually is "a messed up nation." I liked the fact that Michael Moore appeared in the film and gave his personal opinion and the way that he was just himself.

In the film from pathos, ethos, and logos I saw more of the pathos part. The film to me showed more emotion than ethos or logos, though it did have some parts of them. I saw how the people that were getting thrown out of their homes were suffering and just thought it wasn't fair. How Michael Moore involved the end of Bush's term & he than stated the word "capitalism." Just seeing how Americans were losing their homes to foreclosure and seeing their saving go out the window was just sad. Also by seeing how the people that were taking out others from their homes didn't have any emotion towards the actions they were making.

In the video above MIchael Moore is confronted by Hannity on the topic of Capitalism. They both get really into the topic and seem to be arguing. Overall I think the film Capitalism: A Love Story was a great one, it got my attention and got my to a better understanding of it.

  1. Loved your blog! And thanks for giving the definition of what capitalism is because not everybody know. Hopefully Mr. Moore can open the eyes of a lot more people than just our Eng. 102 class...
